Music Fever
Apr 3rd
I’ve been in a music-buying mood lately on iTunes. New Hilary Duff (don’t hate), Linkin’ Park, Modest Mouse, Arcade Fire, and Good Charlotte.
Spring brings the new and wipes away the dead. I’m feelin’ good.

Sucks. If this holds up, Marvel is really screwed. What a juicy story this has produced.
If you read it, you should really sign the petition. The increase in royalty’s and fees is outrageous and is just another bloodsucking attempt by the RIAA to ruin a great legitimate source of content.
That’s…. realistic.
Bill Gates Cries About Not Being Cool
Skip to the end and just laugh at how funny it is!
Great story about copyright law and the idiots who abuse it and then get screwed by it.
Great story about lies in our country.

Noro-Hell
Mar 5th
So, there’s this crazy “norovirus” going around my campus. The school seems to be denying the fact that it’s really just food poisoning from the cafeteria. A look at WebMD clearly states that a “norovirus” is the stomach flu and can also be called food poisoning. The provost has sent us a barrage of e-mails keeping us “updated” on the status. In one e-mail the provost states that the it is not food poisoning but a “norovirus”. I don’t get it. WebMD also describes that “noroviruses” spread through lettuce. Hm. I don’t think my fellow resident students are keeping contaminated vegetables in their rooms. Student government members are also contacting people on facebook and demanding they take down anything that says they contracted food poisoning.
Over 100 students have contracted the virus. A regular night on campus last week meant seeing flashing lights from the 15 or so ambulances that acted like buses for us to get to the ER. The Morristown hospital was so overwhelmed they began refusing admittance and instructed students to go to another hospital. I remember looking at my friends face and seeing strange freckles. Nope, those were broken blood vessels from vomiting for over 7 hours.
Yet, despite all this, we still have class on Monday. Oh yea, the fitness center and the pool are closed. Cleaning crews were called in for every building and classrooms. You have to use sanitizing liquid to enter the cafeteria and use the computer labs now as well. The only plus side is you can get free hand sanitizer. Big bottles too.
This article pretty much sums it all up (includes great quotes from our incredibly honest students).
I feel like shit right now but I can’t seem to sleep so I thought I’d write.
UPDATE: The story is being reported all over the country. Google does a great job of indexing all these news stories here.

Stress

I’ve been stressed out to the max lately. I haven’t written in such a long time. I need to start making time to study and write. I need to stop fucking up so much.

$2,954.00 That’s how much the auction ended at. I hope everything works out just fine.
Get Rid Of It

Back in May, Microsoft was having a contest to boost awareness for their revamped MSN Search (just to be relaunched as Live.com). The contest was called ‘Search & Win’. I clicked. I clicked again. And I won a $4,000 dollar Bose Lifestyle 48 DVD entertainment system. Just like that.
In June, I received a letter about granting rights to Microsoft for publicity purposes and a tax form that I needed to fill out. Soon after, I received a phone call from a company that was running the contest on behalf of Microsoft. The woman wanted to know what color I wanted the system in. I chose black.
One more month later and my mother phoned me to say that an 80lb box had arrived. I had gotten my prize. I was ecstatic at the time.
It is now 6 months later and it’s sitting in my kitchen. I recently made a push to sell it on ebay but that blew up in my face. The auction was up to $2,400 with four more days to go. I was doing good. Until the listing was taken down due to copyright violations. The picture and text from the Bose website we used as a description (which many other users had used as well) is copyrighted. Ebay wanted me to contact Bose’s legal representative at a yahoo email address. Fishy, right? At first it appeared that the delisting was due to a jealous seller that wanted us taken down. After emailing ebay a few hundred times (they only respond via email of course, they don’t do phone conversations if you’ve done a bad thing) trying to make sense of everything that happened came a better explanation.
Ebay explained that this person had to sign a document under penalty of perjury and was indeed legitimate. However, ebay also stated that they do not require Bose to give any information regarding the delisting at all. I did in fact Bose’s legal department but via telephone. I got in touch with someone who told me that a third party monitors ebay listings. So I suppose that everything that happened does in fact make sense. I can’t relist the item though since it was taken down. Ebay policy.
But where does that leave me? With $4,000 dollars in a box that weighs 80lbs sitting in my kitchen. I had a buyer in November ready to pay $3,000 for it and he backed out last minute. As simple as it was winning this thing… I can’t seem to get rid of it.

Santa
Dec 27th
How did you find out the secret behind Santa Claus?
I think it was in 5th grade. We were reading the novel “Bridge to Terabithia” and I believe one of the characters finds out that there is no such thing as Santa. I was devastated.

What’s the most extreme weather you’ve been in? A memorable storm? Heat wave? Or something else?
We were on our annual family vacation (which we haven’t gone on in 3 years) around ’96 or so. There was a hurricane that was coming through Florida. We like to stay in the panhandle; Destin to be exact. The glass door in the back of our condo was blowing inward and tiles were flying off the roof. We wanted to go get food so we drove to the local Winn-Dixie. People were on the beach videotaping huge waves that must have been over 10 feet high. At the store there was absolutely no fresh food. Only cookies. And soda.
